ASW People Story

As a Digital Delivery Manager, I lead the Hybris Development and QA teams for Superdrug.com, Savers.co.uk and the Superdrug Mobile App. My responsibility is to help shape the digital roadmap and support my team by removing obstacles and blockers that may get in the way of delivering digital projects/products as well as troubleshooting problems.

If I were to pick the key areas where a strength is needed in IT, they would be communication, motivation and participation. I always had a flare for problem solving and finding great solutions. I excelled in this area and was quickly promoted to a role delivering digital projects. That’s how I transferred fully to IT from eCommerce. So I didn’t really choose IT, it chose me.

In the past, IT was really quite male dominated, but it has evolved so much over the years and I really do believe that more women are interested in an IT career now. In my team, it’s a 50/50 split which is a really great balance. So, my advice to others is to take a leap of faith in yourself and your ability to make positive changes. Every day may not be as exciting as the last, but I’m pretty sure you will help to make someone’s life a lot easier on most days.
