Powering Low Carbon Future

What Is Renewable Electricity?

Renewable electricity comes from naturally replenishing sources like wind, solar, and hydropower. Unlike fossil fuels, these sources generate significantly fewer greenhouse gas emissions, making them essential in the fight against climate change. According to the World Resources Institute, electricity and heat use account for around 30% of global human‑caused emissions.

Why are Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) Important?

EACs verify that the electricity we purchase is genuinely renewable, allowing us to credibly report progress towards sustainability targets.

A Shared Commitment to Sustainability

AS Watson Group procured approximately 630 GWh of renewable energy through EACs across selected markets—including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Türkiye—covering nearly 100% of annual electricity consumption in these markets. The United Kingdom, The Netherlands and Belgium continue to be powered by nearly 100% renewable electricity too. This achievement underscores the division’s commitment to advancing renewable energy adoption across Asia.

AS Watson Group has made substantial progress in adopting renewable electricity. By leveraging EACs and engaging employees in energy-saving efforts, we are advancing towards our ambitious sustainability goals.
