Responsible Medicine Disposal

Responsible Medicine Disposal

Watsons Hong Kong, in partnership with Junior Chamber International Tai Ping Shan, successfully concluded the Medicines Disposal Programme on 30 June. The initiative involved collecting unused medicines at nearly 60 pharmacies across Hong Kong and placing medication disposal boxes in back office to engage colleagues. The Watsons’ pharmacists team analysed the collected medicines, providing valuable insights for improving medication disposal services in Hong Kong and exploring opportunities for expansion.

Over the course of the programme, more than 7.2 million pills were collected, representing a fourfold increase from last year's total. Additionally, over 600,000 MoneyBack points were distributed to members to encourage customer participation. To promote sustainable medicine disposal, Watsons also engaged with primary and secondary schools by conducting educational talks.
